CNA Jobs in AL
Alabama is a state of the United States of America that joined the Union in 1819 as the 22nd state. Alabama is roughly rectangular on the map, elongated in a north-south direction. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, and Mississippi to the west. With the exception of the southwest corner of Alabama, where Mobile Bay is located, the Florida pen would prevent Alabama from entering the Gulf of Mexico. Montgomery is the state capital.
The state offers great topographical diversity. The rich agricultural valley of the Tennessee River occupies the northernmost part of the state. In northeast Alabama, the rugged terrain of the southwestern edge of the Appalachians begins and continues in a southwesterly direction through the northern half of the state. Beneath it lies a flat strip of prairie known as the Black Belt, with rich soils that were once the cradle of a rural way of life for the production of cotton, vital to the development of the state. Farther south stretch pine forests and then coastal plains down to the moss-covered holm oaks of Mobile and the white beaches of the bay.
The Alabama landscape has been the site of many major crises in the continent’s population and national development. It was a battleground for European powers for land in the New World, a battle between European colonists and indigenous communities, a battle between North and South during the American Civil War, and a battleground for forces such as the Civil Rights Movement. Economic and social changes have dramatically altered many aspects of the Deep South since the mid-20th century. While Alabama remains at the lowest end of the nation in many important social and economic rankings, it has improved in some areas, particularly race relations, including school integration and African-American elections for political office.
