CNA Jobs in NC

North Carolina is one of 13 pristine states located on the Atlantic coast between New York and Florida, bordered by Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, South Carolina and Georgia to the south, and Tennessee to the west. The terrain of North Carolina is one of the wettest in the country, with large coastal intertidal marshes and numerous lakes in Piedmont and Appalachia. These three physical regions account for the majority of the lifestyle and cultural diversity within the state.

The emergence of North Carolina was closely associated with the first attempts at British colonization of North America. Roanoke Island to the northeast, the heavily indented part of the coast bordering the island, was the site of the famous “lost colony” that disappeared sometime after the original landing in 1587.

This eastern region retained some features of colonial life, while the Piedmont region, centered on Charlotte and Raleigh, became the state’s center of industry and population. The mountains to the west remain the center of vibrant rural culture, including the Cherokee Native community who have lived in the region for centuries.

Since the mid-20th century, North Carolina’s population has grown much faster than the national average. This was largely due to its vibrant economy, which had one of the strongest manufacturing sectors in the country and the strongest in the south. At the same time, the public service sector has also expanded, keeping pace with the trends of the national economy. The prosperity, natural beauty, and reputation of North Carolina as a stable government have given it an image of progress and opportunity, even as it maintains its strong Southern identity.
