Ohio is located at the northeastern tip of the Midwest. Lake Erie is located in northern, eastern Pennsylvania, western Virginia, and southeastern and southern Kentucky, western Indiana, and northwestern Michigan. Ohio ranks 34th out of 50 in total land area and is one of the smallest states west of the Appalachians. However, in terms of population, the state is close to number one.

Ohio’s capital, originally located in Chillicothe and Zanesville, was finally established in 1816 in newly formed downtown Columbus. The state is named after the Ohio River back in time to its name. Iroquois, meaning “great water”. On March 1, 1803, Ohio, the first state drawn from the Northwest Territories, became the 17th member of the Union. In many ways, Ohio reflects the urbanized, industrialized, and racially mixed America that developed during the early agricultural era.

The model of his life is so representative of the country as a whole that it is often used to test views, ideas, and commercial products. Notably, Ohio has provided eight U.S. presidents by birth or residence: William H. Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William H. Taft, and Warren G. Harding.

The accessibility of the state was perhaps a key factor in its growth. Its location between the east coast and the heart of the Midwest, as well as the lack of natural obstacles to traffic, have made it a corridor for east-west travel. In addition, the state is located in the heart of the old industrial belt of the country, close to the main raw materials and labor resources and markets of the East, Midwest, and South.
