CNA Jobs in Salt Lake City, UT

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAs)

A CNA, or Certified Nursing Assistant, is an entry-level member of a patient medical team, performing critical patient-centered duties under the supervision of a licensed nursing staff. Although CNAs are not nurses, they work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. A CNA is a healthcare professional who provides personal care to patients in a variety of settings.

CNAs provide direct care to patients, residents, or clients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN). Thanks to CNAs, each patient can receive individualized care that maintains the best possible quality of life.

CNAs can be used in nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, private homes, and more. CNAs help patients with a variety of tasks, including self-care, feeding, bathing, and medication.

Nursing assistants help provide basic care for patients in hospitals and residents of long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes. Orderlies transport patients and clean treatment areas. Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, or move patients, or change linens. May transfer or transport patients. Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is usually needed.

These occupations usually require a high school diploma and at least three years of experience in directly related work. An apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations. Nursing assistants complete a state-approved education program and must pass the state competency exam in order to get certified. Orderlies generally have at least a high school diploma.
