Endoscopy Jobs in WI
Endoscopy is performed for a variety of reasons, including removal of polyps, treatment of tumor masses and screening for various diseases. It involves inserting a thin flexible tube with a tiny camera at its end through the mouth into the digestive tract (known as the gastroenterology) to view the inside of the body without requiring surgery in order to remove polyps, remove tumor masses, or pass a stent across an artery or surgically treat other conditions like esophageal disease or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
The endoscopy nurse will provide the patient and their family with emotional support during their treatment. They are responsible for performing procedures such as sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and or gastrostomy tubes (stomach or pouch) tube feedings. Endoscopies are offered in many different facilities, including hospitals, clinics, HMOs, and private practices. The endoscopy nurse may also manage registration examinations and prescription renewals.
