Hospice RN Jobs in WI

Hospice care is for people who are nearing the end of life. Services are provided by a team of medical professionals who provide maximum comfort for the terminally ill person by reducing pain and meeting physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. To help families, the hospice also provides counseling, respite care, and hands-on support.
Unlike other types of treatment, the goal of hospice care is not to cure the underlying disease. The goal is to maintain the highest possible quality of life for the remainder of the time.

There are far fewer hospice facilities than the home care sector, but that's mainly because hospice care is only for the dying, not long-term medical care. Simply put, hospice is focused on providing compassionate care to manage pain and make life easier for individuals and loved ones at the end of life. This is a profession that requires emotional strength and the realization that death is a part of life. Purpose: To provide comfort, not therapy.
According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), 1.55 million people received Medicare benefits in 2018. Their average stay in hospice was 89.6 days. There are more than 4,000 hospices in the country, according to the CDC.

Qualities needed in hospice care work:
Empathy: Show empathy for patients facing independence constraints or for hospice patients. Patience: Be patient with family members who are grieving a loved one's diagnosis and have difficulty making or preparing for end-of-life decisions. Reliability: Your role in this situation is critical and family members must be able to count on your timely arrival. Endurance: Physical strength and stamina are required to help the patient move, turn the bed, and assist with ADL. Watch: Listen and watch your patient for signs of inability to communicate.
