LPN Jobs in UT

Utah’s population is concentrated in two areas, first Salt Lake City, which has more than 1/3 of the state’s inhabitants. Second, St. George Utah L.D., located on the frontier of southern Utah and Nevada is another area of high concentration; with a large percentage of Mormons, it has become one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the nation.

Utah is the second largest state in the United States, but only the 28 band 28th most populous state. Utah has a small population compared to larger states such as Texas and California. Nearly three-fourths of Utah’s inhabitants live in cities or towns along the Wasatch Front, a stretch of valleys and basins running from Ogden in the north to Provo and Salt Lake City in the south which is a great commercial center.

The percentage of Mormons in Utah has been one of, if not the highest, for over 100 years. Recent census data showed that approximately 62% of state residents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). However, the percentage of Utahns who are Mormon varies greatly between counties. In the eastern part of the state, an area known as the “Utah valley” which includes Provo and Orem, more than 70% of people belong to the LDS Church; however, in some of the northern and western counties (for instance Box Elder and Weber), the percentage drops to 10%-15%.

Utah is in the south-central part of the United States in the region known as the “southwest”. Utah extends north into what is called Cache Valley, physically a depression carved in sedimentary rocks. The Wasatch Range bisects this valley from east to west before it quickly rises to a high elevation again. This second range is also the northern edge of the Colorado Plateau, where beginning approximately 2 million years ago, rivers cut deep canyons into the sedimentary rocks. These are made up almost exclusively of sandstone and limestone laid down as sediments in seas roughly 200-500 million years ago. There are also igneous rocks in the mix which have been injected as hot magma bodies into the subsurface. The Colorado River flows through this entire region on its way to the Gulf of California.
