RN Jobs in FL

Florida was recognized as the 27th state in 1845. Florida is the most populous state in the Southeast and the second-largest southern state after Texas. The capital, Tallahassee, is located in the northwest. Location has been a key factor in Florida’s long and dynamic development and helps explain the state’s striking modern character.

Most of Florida is located on a peninsula that projects southeast from the North American continent, separating the waters of the Atlantic Ocean from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and pointing to Cuba and beyond the Caribbean Sea. Florida shares a land border with only two other states along the northern border: Georgia (east) and Alabama (west).

The nearest foreign territory is Bimini Island in the Bahamas, about 50 miles east of the southern tip of the state. Florida is the southernmost of the 48 continental United States, with its northernmost point about 100 miles south of California’s southern border. The Florida Keys, a crescent of islands that form the southernmost part of the state, extend about 75 miles (120 km) from the Tropic of Cancer. Florida’s coastline is over 8,400 miles (13,500 km), of which approximately 5,100 miles (8,200 km) are along the bay; among US states, only Alaska has a longer coastline.
