Healthcare workers, such as nurses, nursing assistants, and medication aides, provide care to patients under the supervision and guidance of nursing managers or physicians. Nursa clinicians can work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted-living facilities (ALFs), nursing and residential care facilities, physicians’ offices, home healthcare services, and more.

Responsibilities might include:

A clinician’s duties can vary significantly based on their license type, work setting, and additional certifications or specialization, among other factors. Allowing for these variations, the following are typical responsibilities of healthcare workers:

  • Provide patient care
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living
  • Document patient care and maintain health records
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Listen to patients, comfort them, and communicate any relevant information to supervisors 
  • Observe, record, and report changes in a patient’s condition to supervisors
  • Collaborate with the rest of the healthcare team
  • Maintain safety standards and infection control procedures
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures

Check in at nurses station and get report. Check on patients through out the night, change any that need to be. Pass ice water at 4 am. Empty any foleys and trash at end of shift. Give report to next shift. A 30 min lunch is mandatory and charting is a must.

  • You are required to take a 30 minute break
  • You CANNOT clock in more than 5 minutes before the scheduled start time (unless approved by DON/ADON)
  • You CANNOT stay more than 5 minutes past your scheduled end time (unless approved by DON/ADON)
  • You must clock in and clock out of the facility time keeping system.

About Required Healthcare License:
Requirements to work as a nursing assistant can vary significantly from state to state.
