RNs, LPNs, and CNAs Enjoy Working Per Diem in Wisconsin

Everyone knows that Wisconsin knows cheese. In fact, the state is peppered with dairy farms and cheese factories all around that serve as an enjoyable and tasty diversion for Wisconsin residents in their downtime.

Nevertheless, this beautiful state offers its resident clinicians and travel nurses so much more than tasty cheeses. Registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) can pick up per diem jobs in Wisconsin by using our sleek per diem mobile app, Nursa™.

Nurses Enjoy Life in Wisconsin Even When They Aren’t Working

Travel nurses and resident clinicians love working here, not only because they’re securing high-paying jobs in the state of Wisconsin, but because year-round there’s something to see, something to do, or something to savor. Here’s a look at some of Wisconsin’s major attractions:

  • Green County Cheese Days – The annual cheese festival that takes place in September.
  • Big Manitou Falls – The epically beautiful waterfalls that drop 165ft.
  • Spring Valley – Sandstone and limestone caves just waiting for spelunkers to explore.
  • Milwaukee Summerfest – The largest music festival in the world that covers 75 acres and lasts 10-days.
  • Greenbay Packers – Wisconsin’s NFL football fans are as fun to watch as their football team.

What Wisconsin Residents Do in their Down-time

Other common hobbies and free-time activities include taking advantage of Wisconsin’s winter powder by engaging in all types of winter sports you can think of (maybe a few you hadn’t thought of as well). Moreover, in case the cold gets to you in those long winter months, you’ll be delighted at the indoor waterparks dispersed throughout the state just waiting to warm you up and let you play in the water as if it were summer.

Nursa™ Changes the Game for PRN Clinicians

If you’re wondering “what is PRN?” the answer is short and sweet. The term PRN is a medical abbreviation that means working on-demand or as needed. Nurses who work PRN fill shift gaps and worker vacancies to ensure patient care isn’t compromised when a facility struggles with staffing.
Previously, nurses or nursing assistants have to apply to multiple places or contact multiple agencies to get themselves hired on as PRN staff or placed on a list. Nursa™ has changed the business by connecting to facilities of diverse medical settings everywhere and posting their jobs in real-time for its registered users to peruse and contract within the PRN nurse app.

Register an account, build your professional profile, and browse PRN shifts for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs at facilities near you. If you’ve never considered working PRN jobs before, read all about the benefits of PRN work and how you can incorporate it into your career in our post, “Advance Your Nursing Career by Picking Up PRN RN Jobs Nearby”.

Learn What it Takes to Work in PACU as a Registered Nurse

Post Anesthesia Care Unit nurses (also referred to as PACU or recovery room nurses) serve a critical role in hospitals and surgical centers by providing care to patients who are recovering or waking from a surgical procedure. Side effects and responses to anesthesia can vary by person, and while some patients will come out of anesthesia gently and easily others may wake disoriented and in pain or even more serious issues.

Due to the critical nature of a PACU nurse, these PRN shifts are often some of the highest paying RN jobs available on the Nursa™ platform. We’re committed to helping surgical teams continue their work without delays or cancellations due to employment issues by providing experienced clinicians on-demand.

Where does a Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse Work?

Anywhere surgeries with anesthesia are performed, a PACU nurse can be found. This means work settings can vary from hospitals to ambulatory surgical units, or even outpatient care centers and sometimes doctors’ offices.

What Does a PACU Nurse Do?

A PACU nurse assumes the care of a patient following a surgical procedure. They are responsible for monitoring vitals, documenting a patient’s process of waking, and recovery from surgery. This can also include changing wound dressings and monitoring IV levels. In some cases, lifesaving intervention may be necessary. Nurses working in the recovery room determine when a patient is ready to be moved and will often provide guidance and education for recovery when it comes time for the patient to be discharged.

Recommended Certifications

The following certifications are recommended and others required for various posts in the post-anesthesia care unit. Your certifications can be included in your professional digital portfolio on Nursa™ and assist you in landing high-paying PRN shifts by demonstrating your commitment to both your patients and your career.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)
  • Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)

Traits Essential in a Successful PACU Nurse

In the recovery room after surgery, the PACU nurse is usually the first person a patient sees upon waking. Sedation can cause confusion and fear in some people therefore patience and a calm demeanor serve as necessary qualities for a nurse in this role. Not all patients coming out of sedation will be able to coherently verbalize any discomfort or side effects they may be experiencing, therefore attention to detail is paramount in this unit.
