An interesting fact is that Maryland was the first state to join the NLC back in 1999.

To obtain the NLC, nurses must complete background checks, verify their original license, complete the online application by uploading some extra documents, and this NLC lasts for two years, meaning that every two years they must renew it if they are going to use it.

  • Operate medical equipment and use it to monitor each patient's condition.
  • Educating patients about their disease, as well as their families, this will require communication and patient education skills.
  • Assist in arriving at a diagnosis for each patient and analyzing the results of labs and tests that are done with the rest of the medical team.
