However, for anyone that is working in healthcare, facing these challenges can prove to be rewarding. This rings especially true for anyone who chooses to work in healthcare as a PRN worker. This opportunity offers incredible benefits for both healthcare facilities and workers themselves. Most importantly, if you search for licensed practical nurse (LPN) jobs in Portland, Oregon, you've landed in precisely the right place to learn all you need to know and more.

Advantages of Working PRN Jobs in Portland

However, if you're unfamiliar with the term PRN, you may wonder what this type of work entails and why so many nurses favor this work method over being a staff nurse or travel nurse. Depending on the way you look at it, PRN nursing can be seen as a direct competition to travel nursing or maybe just a considerable alternative for those who want something different. Regardless, working PRN comes with some benefits you can't get anywhere else, adding to the uniqueness of this type of work.

So what is PRN? Short for per diem or pro re nata, PRN means to work on an as-needed basis only when a facility has a temporary free space to fill.

The freedom of working PRN is much more than that of being a travel nurse for those who wish to have that much freedom with their choices. This is because, as a PRN nurse, you will become your boss, free to choose when and where you'd like to work. The ability to make many choices on your own can be pretty daunting for some. However, it can prove incredibly successful for those who put in the effort. Overall, the flexibility of PRN work allows nurses to make time for themselves while also taking up the jobs they need to support themselves and their families. Plus, if that isn't enough, nurses who work PRN tend to make higher salaries than the average as they don't earn the same benefits from the facilities they work at that staff nurses typically make.
