Spokane RNs Find High-Paying Jobs with Nursa

The state of Washington is experiencing a high demand for nurses, and with more RN jobs in Spokane available than the current pool of actively licensed nurses can fill, hospitals and healthcare facilities are turning to per diem registered nurses (RNs) working to fill the gaps.

How to Become an RN in Washington State?

You must first graduate from a nursing education program. Once that is completed, have your certificate of completion, and official transcripts with your degree and graduation date posted and sent to the Washington State Board of Nursing. Once the Nursing Commission has verified your documents you can register for the licensing exam (NCLEX).

For RNs already licensed in another state, Washington is not currently part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, but you can apply for a Washington license via endorsement.

What's the Average RN Salary in Washington State?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) publishes data on occupational income at the national level and then analyzes it down to separate states and even metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas. This allows for excellent comparisons for income among states but cities as well. According to the BLS, the average RN salary in Spokane is $92,620 yearly or $44.53 hourly which, while slightly under the state's average, is well above the national average of $82,750 yearly or $39.78 hourly.

RNs can also specialize which increases their value in the workforce which is observed not only in the kinds of positions available to specialty RNs but in their respective incomes as well. Specializing requires a commitment from a nurse, meaning that not only is there a financial aspect to specializing, but as well an investment of their time to study, gain experience, and pass a certification exam.

Another way to earn more as an RN in Spokane is to work as a per diem (PRN) nurse. PRN nurses work on-demand which means they pick up work shift by shift, selecting those which fit within their schedules. Moreover, PRN shifts often offer a higher hourly pay rate than that which you see for staff positions. Hospitals and facilities are motivated to fill their vacancies quickly to keep safe nurse-to-patient ratios and ease the burden on their staff nurses. Earn top hourly rates by working PRN with Nursa.
