National Administrative Professionals’ Day is a day to recognize the hard work of administrative professionals, including those in the industry, i.e. secretaries and administrators, who keep offices operating smoothly.

But what is a healthcare secretary? And how does their hard work contribute to unity and collaboration within a healthcare office setting?

Administrative professionals also referred to as healthcare secretaries, are people who do clerical and administrative work for a medical facility or office. Essentially, administrative work is work that provides support for a business. Administrative Professionals’ Day, also known as secretaries day, is coming up on Thursday, April 24th, the last full week of the month. During this time, we will all have the opportunity to thank our healthcare administration professionals, and show our appreciation for them by taking the time to understand just how hard they work for us. So how can we celebrate and recognize the dedication of healthcare administration around the country? Read on to learn more about what healthcare administration entails, and a few ways we can honor them on their special day.

Why Do We Celebrate National Administrative Professionals’ Day?

Without healthcare administration professionals, a medical facility or hospital would be unable to stay afloat with all the paperwork and logistics that require extensive organization within a healthcare system. Simply put, healthcare secretaries hold down the fort by ensuring records, appointments, and documents are effectively organized at all times. Furthermore, healthcare secretaries serve as an intermediary channel of communication between doctors, nurses, patients, and family visitors. The role of an administrative professional is extremely diverse and demanding. Often, administrative professionals will be required to handle multiple tasks at once, as well as be flexible to work during weekends and holidays. On the flip side, healthcare secretarial work can be incredibly rewarding, providing plenty of mental and social stimulation. Subsequently, for those who are naturally jovial, finding a career within healthcare administration can prove to be extremely fulfilling.
