Looking for ways to embrace the red, white, and blue at your healthcare workplace? The 4th of July is just around the corner, and it’s a perfect time to express gratitude to our dedicated healthcare workers throughout the nation. And while many healthcare professionals must work on the 4th of July, that doesn’t mean they will miss out on the celebration. In fact, there are plenty of ways to bring patriotic cheer to the workplace. Check out below five fantastic ideas for celebrating the 4th of July at your healthcare workplace!

1. Organize a Fun-Filled 4th of July BBQ

What embraces the 4th of July spirit more than a quintessential American-style barbeque (BBQ)? From hotdogs and coleslaw to juicy burgers and creamy potato salad, a traditional Independence Day BBQ is one of the best ways to create a festive atmosphere.

When it comes to doing a BBQ at a healthcare workplace, details make all the difference.

For example, if your healthcare workplace has an outdoor courtyard, you can organize a “BBQ” for doctors, nurses, and other medical workers by offering pre-grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, potato chips, and fresh lemonade. Likewise, you can host a 4th of July-themed BBQ in the breakroom and decorate the space in red, white, and blue.

2. Make a Gratitude Wall

A great way to celebrate nurses working on holidays—in this case, on the 4th of July—is to set up a gratitude wall. A gratitude wall can be adorned with patriotic decorations along with thank you notes that come from nurse coworkers expressing their gratitude for each other. Additionally, thank you notes can come from patients that nurses are caring for or have cared for in the past. Either way, a gratitude wall is an excellent way to demonstrate nurse appreciation and celebrate the 4th of July with enthusiasm and unity.

3. Dress Up in Red, White, and Blue

One of the easiest ways to celebrate the 4th of July in style is to dress up in our nation’s colors: red, white, and blue. Even if you just break out your navy blue scrubs and combine them with a pair of red Crocs, dressing up in red, white, and blue will radiate patriotic pride throughout your healthcare workplace.

4. Fourth of July Trivia Game

What better way to celebrate Independence Day at work than with a fun trivia game? Not only are trivia games an awesome way to get a healthcare team excited, but they can also support healthcare employee retention in general. As a matter of fact, research suggests that increasing staff engagement may improve nurse retention and increase staff bonding.

To host a 4th of July trivia game, gather your colleagues and test their knowledge of US history, traditions, and iconic landmarks. From the national anthem to the first president, there are endless questions you can come up with. With a little 4th of July trivia, you can giggle, laugh, and bring some fun into the office while paying tribute to the country’s founding.

5. Stream a 4th of July Parade

Need a quick and easy idea to bring a little patriotic pride to your healthcare workplace? Turn on your healthcare workplace’s televisions and stream a national or local 4th of July Parade. With its colorful floats and patriotic music, a 4th of July parade can help nurses and other healthcare workers feel a part of the unity and pride that come with living in America.

Celebrating the 4th of July in Your Healthcare Workplace

As you can see, there are numerous ways you can bring the spirit of the 4th of July to your workplace as well as honor the hard work of our nation’s healthcare workers. Hence, whether you choose to organize a workplace BBQ or show your support by wearing red, white, and blue, all it takes is a bit of creativity and pride to make a healthcare workplace feel a bit more festive on this special day. Happy 4th of July!
