Key takeaways:

Picture it: You are already understaffed and can’t imagine how the day could get more hectic until you get a text message from a clinician calling out of the evening shift, which starts in just a few hours

You’re not even at your desk because you were chasing down the charge nurse to discuss whether the unit could safely run short staffed. In the past, this meant rushing back to your computer to manually post an opening.

Thankfully, with NIA shift creation, you can easily take out your phone and speak the shift details into the Nursa app—without skipping a beat.

“I need 2 RN shifts for the next 4 Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.”

From there, all you need to do is confirm the shifts match the coverage you need before posting them to the Nursa marketplace.

What is the NIA Shift Creator?

NIA, or Nursa Intelligence Assistant, is an artificial intelligence-powered feature that helps healthcare facilities quickly create shifts on the Nursa platform without manually inputting shift information.

Simply describe, take a photo, or upload a spreadsheet of the shifts you need and let the NIA Shift Creator automatically create them for you. Facilities can still review shift information and pay rate before posting, but NIA significantly reduces the time involved in creating new shifts.

The Nursa Intelligence Assistant recognizes your filters and existing settings—like license presets and instructions—to streamline the posting process.

While NIA is currently available for shift creation, its capabilities will soon expand to support even more areas across the Nursa platform. Start using NIA to create shifts at scale today, all within the bulk shift creation experience.

NIA shift creator benefits

The Nursa Intelligence Assistant makes staffing simpler, faster, and smarter.

Here’s what NIA allows you to do:

  • Save time with automated shift creation in seconds
  • Eliminate repetitive typing and manual data entry
  • Post shifts from anywhere—even on the go
  • Reach qualified clinicians the moment you post

Here’s how:

Picture another typical scenario: Two CNAs call out from their scheduled evening shifts. You simply say into the app: “Two CNA evening shifts, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., today.” NIA automatically applies preset details like pay rate and license type, generating postings in seconds while you continue with other valuable tasks.

What once took 15 minutes of typing now takes less than one.

When every minute counts, the ability to post multiple shifts in a few clicks can make the difference between scrambling for coverage and confidently managing your healthcare workforce.

How to start posting shifts with NIA

Getting started with NIA is simple and designed to fit into the way you already schedule.

From the Schedule section in the app, click Create New and select Bulk Upload to begin.

  1. Talk, type, or snap a photo of the shifts you need to create
  2. Let NIA instantly generate draft shifts from your input
  3. Review, edit, and preview your shifts
  4. Post directly to the Nursa shift marketplace

If you prefer, you can also download and use Nursa’s pre-formatted spreadsheet template. When adding shift details, be sure to include the required fields: license type (such as CNA, RN, or LPN), date, and shift start and end times.

Shortcuts like AM, PM, or NOC can be used if you’ve set them up in your Schedule Settings. You’ll also have the option to add information like breaks, copies of the shift, or Auto-Schedule preferences.
