Wyoming became the 44th state of the Union on July 10, 1890. It ranks 10th among the 50 US states by total area. It borders six other states of the Great Plains and Mountains: Montana to the north and northwest, South Dakota and Nebraska to the east, Colorado to the south, Utah to the southwest, and Idaho to the west. Cheyenne, the capital, is located in the southeastern part of the state. The word “Wyoming” comes from a Delaware word meaning “land of the vast plains,” an apt description of the state’s vast natural environment, home to almost as many pronghorns as people.
Wyoming residents are scattered across the land in small farms and farming towns, mining communities, and communities that offer unparalleled outdoor recreation opportunities. Every year, millions of people visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. In addition, the state has a low crime rate and little environmental pollution. One of Wyoming’s nicknames is the “Equality State” because it was the first state in the nation to adopt a constitution that included a provision giving women the right to vote.

Western Wyoming Community College
Western Wyoming Community College, located in Rocks Springs in Sweetwater County, is a public post-secondary educational institution established in 1959. It offers a variety of two-year degrees, certificate programs and more. WWCC offers students a four-credit Certified Nursing Assistant program, which seeks to arm students with the knowledge and skills needed for gainful employment as a CNA. During the course's duration, instructors present principles of basic nursing skills to students and places an emphasis on patient care for geriatric populations.
Central Wyoming College
Central Wyoming College is a community college with a main campus in Riverton, the largest city in Fremont County, and satellite learning centers in Lander, Jackson, Dubois and the Wind River Indian Reservation. CWC is perhaps best known for its nursing program. The college offers students a 76-contact hour CNA program which prepares candidates for future employment at a long-term nursing care facility. 40 of the 76 program hours are dedicated to in-class lecture and laboratory skills practice, and 26 hours are dedicated to clinical experience.
