PRN Telemetry RNs Are in High Demand
Registered nurses (RNs) with experience working in Telemetry Units are in demand. The telemetry specialty is unique in that much of the nursing work is done remotely through monitoring devices that measure and transmit a patient’s blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiration, and heart rhythm. Telemetry nurses must think critically and act decisively; their responsibilities typically include the following:
- Monitor, interpret, document, and respond to cardiac rhythms
- Initiative IVs and administer IV medication
- Recognize signs requiring intervention
- Patient and patient family education
This nursing work is essential because telemetry RNs often monitor patients who currently are or have recently been critically ill. Every telemetry shift is different, as is every telemetry unit. TELE RNs may have as many as four or five patients to monitor at a time, which can be very intense. Do you have the skills and experience working in telemetry?
