The Nevada State Waiver Credential for Nurses is an authorization from the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN) that allows qualified nurses to be employed in a specialty area of nursing without completing the full licensing application process. This type of credential is often used for nurses who are coming in from another state, but can also be used when a nurse wishes to enter a new specialty area. The waiver credential allows the RN to practice a certain kind of nursing within the state of Nevada, without having to be licensed in the specialty field. In order to be eligible for the waiver credential, the nurse must have graduated from an accredited nursing program, have a valid RN license from another state, or have a valid CRN number from another state. In addition, the nurse must submit a completed application and fee to the NSBN, along with documentation to demonstrate that the individual has the experience to safely practice in a specialty field. Once the application has been approved, the credential is valid for three years and can be renewed as needed. This provides a great opportunity for nurses to pursue a new career path without additional testing and hassle while ensuring that the public is protected through appropriate licensure.
