IV certification credential is a certification program specializing in intravenous (IV) therapy. It is aimed to teach and train healthcare professionals in the correct procedures for administering safe and effective IV infusions. The credentialing program typically includes didactic instruction, hands-on practice of IV skills, microvascular assessment of the patient, and education on safe medication practices and legal issues. By the completion of the program, professionals should be able to assess the patient’s physical and mental health status and be knowledgeable of the drugs, dosage, and rate of administration for a safe and effective IV infusion. Appropriate documentation and patient education is also covered. The certification credential is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to properly and safely deliver intravenous medication and fluids.
