Training and qualifications are essential in providing quality healthcare to trauma patients. The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is an intense, two-day educational program designed specifically for nurses who care for trauma and/or critically injured patients. The TNCC provides its students with the education, training, and confidence to handle a variety of trauma scenarios.
The TNCC provides participants with essential knowledge and skills such as the ability to recognize potential for trauma or critically injured patients, the necessary skills to assess and intervene for these patients, and the education to maximize the effectiveness of a trauma team. This course also focuses on identifying the appropriate, evidence-based practices for the current and most appropriate trauma care.
The TNCC promotes a multidisciplinary approach to trauma assessment and interventions, creates a platform for collaboration between healthcare professionals, and increases awareness of the emotional and psychological impact of a traumatic event on the patient, family, and staff. The TNCC helps to bridge the gap between the current trauma healthcare standards and an individual nurse’s skill set.
