Amara Health Care in-service training is a facility-specific requirement, which means Amara sets the content and it does not carry over to shifts you pick up elsewhere. Nursa verifies it alongside your other nursing credentials before Amara shifts open to you.
What is an in-service?
An in-service is recurring training a facility runs to keep staff current on its policies, safety procedures, and clinical practice. It differs from orientation, which happens once before a first shift. In-services continue for as long as you keep working the building.
Who needs to complete it?
The requirement reaches the clinical staff Amara schedules on its units:
- Certified nursing assistants
- Registered nurses
- Licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses
What do in-service topics usually cover?
Content shifts from session to session, but most facilities cycle through the same core areas.
- Infection control, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment.
- Resident rights, abuse prevention, and reporting obligations.
- Fire safety, emergency codes, and evacuation procedures.
- Safe transfers, body mechanics, and fall prevention.
- Documentation standards and shift handoff expectations.
How often is it required?
Federal rules require nurse aides in nursing facilities to complete at least 12 hours of in-service training each year, which is why the requirement keeps reappearing rather than clearing once.
