AZ DHS Approved Proof of Dementia Education Training

AZ DHS approved proof of dementia education training is Arizona's requirement that dementia care training come from a program the state health department has signed off on. Arizona facilities check for it before releasing shifts, and Nursa keeps it with your other nursing credentials.

What does AZ DHS approved actually mean?

The Arizona Department of Health Services has reviewed the training program and accepted it as meeting the state requirement. Approval attaches to the program rather than to you, so what matters when you upload proof is which course you took. A thorough course from a provider not on the state's list still does not satisfy the requirement.

Who needs it in Arizona?

Facilities caring for residents with dementia expect it of the staff working their units:

  • Certified nursing assistants
  • Registered nurses
  • Licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses

Assisted living and memory care settings enforce it most directly, since Arizona's rules target the settings where dementia care is routine.

Does a dementia course from another state count?

Not automatically, and this is where clinicians most often get caught out. Training that satisfied a requirement elsewhere may not appear on Arizona's approved list, which means you can hold a valid dementia certificate and still be short this credential. Check your course against the state's approved programs rather than assuming it carries over.

What if you pick up shifts in more than one state?

You need whatever each state asks for. This credential answers Arizona's rule and nothing else, so a clinician working Arizona alongside another state may need separate dementia training on file for each. They sit as separate credentials on your profile rather than one.

Adding it to your profile

Upload the certificate the approved program issued, not a general dementia course completion.

  1. Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Scroll to the Credentials section.
  4. Tap Add your Credential.
  5. Upload your document as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.

Sign up as a clinician and check your course against Arizona's approved list before you upload.

Testimonial about Nursa from the real users

Nursa is always there for me!”

“I love the easy user-friendly app with clear pictures and information about a facility. I work with other agencies and the Nursa app is most visually appealing! The best thing about Nursa though is the professional attitude of the staff whenever you call or need help. Again, surpasses other agencies”
