Bixby Towers Post-Acute requires a signed clinician agreement before you work a shift there. It is paperwork rather than training, and the signed copy goes on your Nursa profile alongside your license and your other nursing credentials.
Is a clinician agreement the same as an independent contractor agreement?
In substance, usually yes. Operators name these documents differently, and clinician agreement, independent contractor agreement, and ICA often describe the same thing: written terms for taking shifts at a facility as a 1099 contractor rather than as an employee. What the document says matters more than what it is called, so read the terms rather than the title.
What does post-acute mean for the shifts you take here?
Post-acute sits between the hospital and home. Residents arrive after a hospital stay for rehabilitation or continued nursing care, so stays run shorter than in long-term care and acuity tends to run higher. Expect admissions and discharges landing mid-shift, and a day shaped partly by therapy schedules.
What should you plan for on a first shift?
Signing the agreement clears the paperwork, not the building. Arrive early enough to get oriented to the unit, bring photo identification, and expect to be shown where supplies, emergency equipment, and the charting system live. Find out who is running the shift before you need to know.
