What education does Florida require?
Training tied to the settings pool clinicians are assigned to.
- Infection control and bloodborne pathogen exposure
- Recognizing and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation
- Resident and patient rights
- Emergency procedures and workplace safety
- HIV and AIDS education, which Florida requires of licensed clinicians
How is this different from your license renewal education?
Different requirement, different clock. Florida sets continuing education for license renewal covering topics such as medical errors, human trafficking, and domestic violence, counted in hours across your renewal cycle. Pool education is a condition of being assigned to facilities rather than of holding your license. Completing one does not satisfy the other, and a clinician working Florida shifts generally carries both.
Does it need repeating?
Usually yes. Requirements of this kind are typically refreshed on an annual cycle rather than completed once, and the record carries a date facilities check. Note when you finished it and plan the next round before the date passes, since Florida shifts close when the credential lapses.
