Flu Vaccine (Or Refusal)

A flu vaccine record documents your influenza vaccination for the current season. Facilities commonly require it once flu season starts, and it sits with your other nursing credentials.

Why does this one expire every year?

Because the vaccine changes every year. Influenza strains shift, the vaccine is reformulated for each season, and last season's dose does not count for this one. That makes it unusual among your credentials. Where a certification might last 2 years, this one restarts each autumn, and a record uploaded in November is stale by the following October.

When should you get it?

Earlier than feels necessary. Facilities tend to start requiring proof as the season begins, and shifts can close before you have thought about it. Getting vaccinated early also means the record is sitting on your profile before the requirement appears rather than after.

What counts as documentation?

Anything showing your name, the vaccine, and the date. A record from the pharmacy, clinic, or provider that administered it works, as does a printout from a state immunization registry. A receipt showing a payment but not the vaccine or the date is the version that comes back to you. Photograph or download the record at the time rather than trying to retrieve it in January.

What if you decline?

Facilities requiring the vaccine usually have a process for medical or religious exemption, and many ask unvaccinated staff to wear a mask through the season instead. Requirements differ by facility and by state, and an exemption granted at one building does not carry to another. Ask what documentation the facility expects rather than assuming.

Adding it to your profile

Upload the record showing the vaccine and the date, and enter the date for the current season.

  1. Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Scroll to the Credentials section.
  4. Tap Add your Credential.
  5. Upload your document as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.

Sign up as a clinician and get this season's record on file before flu season narrows what you can pick up.

Testimonial about Nursa from the real users

Nursa is always there for me!”

“I love the easy user-friendly app with clear pictures and information about a facility. I work with other agencies and the Nursa app is most visually appealing! The best thing about Nursa though is the professional attitude of the staff whenever you call or need help. Again, surpasses other agencies”
