Government-issued ID

A government-issued ID confirms you are who your other credentials say you are. It is the least interesting item on a credential list and the one everything else depends on. It sits with your other nursing credentials.

What counts as a government-issued ID?

A current photo identification issued by a government body.

  • A state driver's license
  • A state identification card
  • A United States passport or passport card
  • A military identification card

Expired documents do not count, however recently they lapsed.

Why does it matter more than it looks?

Because every other credential attaches to a person rather than to a name on a page. A license, a certification, and a background screening only mean something if the person presenting them is the person they were issued to. Identity verification is what ties the file together, which is why it comes before anything else can be relied on. Facilities also check identification at the door on a first shift, so the document you upload should be the one you actually carry.

What makes an upload get rejected?

Small things, almost always.

  • Corners or edges cut off in the photo
  • Glare across the surface from a flash or overhead light
  • A document that expired after you uploaded it
  • An image too low in resolution to read the details

Lay the card flat, use even light, and capture the whole document including its edges.

What if names do not match across your documents?

Resolve it rather than hoping nobody notices. A license in one name and a certification in another is common, and credentialing has to reconcile the two. Supply whatever links them, such as a marriage certificate or a court order, and update the documents you can. A mismatch left alone tends to surface at the worst moment, usually with a shift waiting.

Adding it to your profile

Upload a current, unexpired ID with all 4 corners visible.

  1. Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Scroll to the Credentials section.
  4. Tap Add your Credential.
  5. Upload your document as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.

Sign up as a clinician and check the expiration date while you are there.

Testimonial about Nursa from the real users

Nursa is always there for me!”

“I love the easy user-friendly app with clear pictures and information about a facility. I work with other agencies and the Nursa app is most visually appealing! The best thing about Nursa though is the professional attitude of the staff whenever you call or need help. Again, surpasses other agencies”
