HealthStream is the learning platform HCA uses to assign required training. The modules are completed there rather than in the Nursa app, and completion is what facilities check before releasing a shift. The record sits with your other nursing credentials.
What are HealthStream modules?
Assigned coursework on a learning platform. Rather than running training session by session, large systems load required education onto a platform, assign it to the people who need it, and track completion centrally. What you see when you log in is a list built for your role, usually with due dates attached.
What do the modules usually cover?
Compliance and safety, with role-specific content layered on top.
- Patient privacy and information security
- Infection control and personal protective equipment
- Abuse and neglect recognition and reporting
- Fire safety, emergency codes, and hazardous materials
- Workplace violence and safe patient handling
- Competencies tied to the unit you are assigned to
How is this different from facility orientation?
Scope. Orientation explains one building, its layout, its codes, and how a shift runs there. HealthStream modules carry the system's standard education, which stays the same whichever HCA facility you pick up at. A clinician working 2 HCA hospitals completes the modules once and orientation twice.
What if the modules do not appear when you log in?
That is an access problem rather than a training one. Assignments are pushed to your account by whoever administers the platform, and they can lag behind the rest of your onboarding. If you log in and find nothing assigned, or cannot log in at all, ask the facility who manages HealthStream for their site. Waiting for the list to populate on its own is the usual way this stalls.
Adding it to your profile
Upload the completion transcript rather than a single module certificate, since the requirement generally covers the whole assigned set.
- Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
- Select Profile.
- Scroll to the Credentials section.
- Tap Add your Credential.
- Upload your document as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.
