An Idaho state waiver is documentation that the state has approved an exception to a requirement that would otherwise apply to you. It is issued by the state rather than by a facility, and it sits with your other nursing credentials.
What does a waiver actually do?
It permits something the standing rule does not. Requirements set at state level apply uniformly, and a waiver is the mechanism for approving a specific departure in a specific case. What it covers, who may request one, and what conditions attach are all set by the state rather than negotiated with a facility. The document names those limits, which is why the waiver itself matters more than any summary of it.
Why are waivers usually time-limited?
Because they are exceptions rather than changes to the rule. A waiver generally applies for a defined period, sometimes tied to a circumstance expected to resolve, and it lapses on a date rather than continuing until revoked. Note the expiration when you upload it, since a lapsed waiver leaves you subject to the requirement it was covering, usually without warning.
Does a waiver transfer?
Not across state lines, and not always across settings. A waiver issued by Idaho speaks to Idaho requirements only and has no effect on what another state expects of you. Within Idaho, read what the document says about its own scope, since a waiver approved for one circumstance does not automatically extend to another.
Adding it to your profile
Upload the waiver document itself, showing the issuing authority, its terms, and the expiration date.

- Select Profile.
- Scroll to the Credentials section.
- Tap Add your Credential.
- Upload your document as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.
Sign up as a clinician and note the expiration, since a waiver is the credential most likely to lapse quietly.
