How do I get PALS certified?
To become PALS certified, you need to:
- Meet the prerequisite of having a current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Preparation Work
- Attend an instructor-led PALS Provider Course, which typically takes 2 days
- Pass the PALS Provider Course Exam, which includes 50 multiple-choice questions and 2 pediatric case scenario simulations
- Demonstrate competency in all PALS core skills, including high-quality CPR, bag-mask ventilation, airway management, and rhythm recognition
Upon successful completion, you'll receive a PALS Provider course completion card, which is valid for two years.
Maintaining your PALS certification
To renew your PALS certification, you have two options:
- Retake the full PALS Provider Course before your current certification expires
- Complete the PALS Heartcode program (blended learning with online portion and hands-on session) and pass the exam within 60 days before your certification's expiration date

Once you've earned your PALS certification, add it to your Nursa profile:
- Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
- Select Profile.
- Scroll to the Credentials section.

- Enter "PALS Certification" as the credential name, the certifying body (American Heart Association), and the expiration date.
