TriHealth Orientation and Shadow Shift

TriHealth may require an orientation and shadow shift before approving clinicians to pick up shifts at its locations. The credential names two components, and only one of them can be completed from home.

What a shadow shift involves

Time on the unit alongside someone already working it, observing rather than carrying an assignment. It covers what written material cannot: the actual pace of a floor, where things are, how a team communicates under pressure, what the building feels like at the hour a clinician would be working it.

Planning around the second component

Because a shadow shift happens on site and depends on someone being available to be shadowed, it needs scheduling rather than completing. That makes this credential slower to satisfy than a self-paced course, and worth starting well before a target shift rather than close to it.

What the orientation portion sets out

  • How the organization runs its units and structures a day.
  • What is expected of clinicians picking up shift by shift.
  • The care approaches its locations follow with patients.

Since the content describes one organization, it belongs to that operator rather than to an outside certifying body.

Why some organizations ask for both

Written material and time on the floor teach different things, and the combination tends to appear where the work is complex enough that reading about it leaves gaps. Organizations using this approach generally treat the shadow shift as the part that makes the rest stick.

How to add this credential to your Nursa profile

Records combining training and on-site time are added the same way as any other credential.

  1. Navigate to your Profile in the Nursa app.
  2. Locate Credentials on your profile view.
  3. Select the "+" button.
  4. Select "Add Credential."
  5. Select the credential you want to add.
  6. Follow the instructions to add your credential.

Depending on the credential type, this may require uploading proof of the certification, reviewing and signing a document, or completing a facility-required training in ShiftReady. ShiftReady is an online learning management platform that offers clinicians access to a library of third-party training resources.

Testimonial about Nursa from the real users

Nursa is always there for me!”

“I love the easy user-friendly app with clear pictures and information about a facility. I work with other agencies and the Nursa app is most visually appealing! The best thing about Nursa though is the professional attitude of the staff whenever you call or need help. Again, surpasses other agencies”
