Per Diem Jobs in the Area

LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) in Harlan, Kentucky, play a crucial role in the healthcare system. They work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to provide direct patient care, administer medications, and assist in various treatments and procedures. When working PRN (or per diem) shifts, LPNs have the flexibility to work on an as-needed basis, filling in for other nurses on vacation or sick leave or picking up extra shifts to supplement their income. In Harlan, licensed practical nurses often work alongside CNAs (certified nursing assistants).

What Will My First PRN Job Be Like?

Your first PRN LPN shift in Harlan, Kentucky, maybe a mix of nerves and excitement, but rest assured, you are in good hands. Nursing is a highly respected profession in this area, and the nurses and the team you will work with will be welcoming and supportive. You will likely spend time shadowing a more experienced nurse to understand the facility and its procedures. Still, once you are on your own, you will be responsible for providing compassionate care to your patients and assisting in their recovery. No two shifts will be exactly alike, but your PRN LPN experience in Harlan will be rewarding.

Per diem shifts have become increasingly popular among LPNs in recent years. This type of work offers flexibility in scheduling, allowing nurses to customize their work hours to fit their personal lives and commitments. PRN shifts also provide the opportunity to work in healthcare settings, gaining valuable experience in different specialties. In addition, per diem positions often pay a higher hourly rate than full-time or part-time positions, making it a financially attractive option for many LPNs.

The traditional full-time or part-time nursing job is one of many available options. In fact, PRN nursing work is becoming a new way of working for many healthcare professionals. PRN, which stands for "pro re nata," is a Latin term that means "as needed." This type of work allows healthcare professionals to work on an as-needed basis, picking up shifts when they are available and when they fit into their schedules. This model improves both the healthcare facilities, which have a pool of highly skilled and experienced nurses to call upon when needed, and the nurses, who have the flexibility and control over their work schedules.
