About Blue Mountain Christian University

Blue Mountain Christian University occupies a small campus in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, in the northeast corner of the state near Tupelo. Founded in 1873 and affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention, it operated for most of its history as Blue Mountain College, admitting women before becoming fully coeducational, and adopted its current name in recent years. Enrollment stays small, and the university builds its programs around a Christian liberal arts foundation with a stated emphasis on service and vocation.

The nursing program leads to a bachelor's degree and prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN. Coursework combines general education in the sciences and humanities with the nursing sequence, moving through health assessment, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and nursing care across medical-surgical, maternal-child, mental health, and community settings. Clinical rotations take place at hospitals and health agencies in the surrounding region, including facilities in the Tupelo area, which gives students exposure to rural and small-city health care where Mississippi's provider shortages are most pronounced. Class sizes stay small enough that students work closely with faculty throughout. Compared with Mississippi's larger public nursing programs, Blue Mountain offers a smaller, faith-centered environment.
