Mercer University, Atlanta Campus

Mercer University operates its Atlanta campus in the northeast part of the city, one of several locations for a private university headquartered in Macon, Georgia. Founded in 1833 with Baptist roots, Mercer built out its Atlanta presence to serve graduate and professional students, and the campus houses the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing along with schools of pharmacy, medicine, business, and theology. Nursing at Mercer traces back to a hospital-based school established in the late 1800s, absorbed into the university in the 1990s.

The College of Nursing offers a bachelor's degree for students entering the profession, an accelerated option for those who already hold a degree in another field, a completion pathway for licensed registered nurses, and graduate study through the master's and doctoral levels for nurses moving into advanced practice, education, or leadership. Undergraduate coursework builds through health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology into nursing care across medical-surgical, maternal-newborn, pediatric, psychiatric-mental health, and community settings, with simulation practice ahead of clinical rotations at Atlanta-area hospitals. Graduates are prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN. The metro location puts students within reach of academic medical centers, safety-net hospitals, and community facilities alike.
