How to Become an RN in Florida

Are you interested in becoming an RN in the state of Florida? It's a commitment to become an RN anywhere, nevertheless, the job is vastly important and the demand for more RNs is rising which means definitive job security, particularly in Florida as one of the top destinations for the baby boomer generation to relocate to after retirement. The first step is to graduate from an approved nursing education program; some RNs complete an associate’s degree while others complete a bachelor's degree. Ultimately, it is your decision to make. Following graduation, you must pass the NCLEX (the licensing exam).

The state of Florida is part of the Nursing Licensure Compact, which means if you already hold an active nursing license in another member state, you can also practice in the state of Florida. For more information, check out the Florida Board of Nursing website.

How Much Do RNs Earn?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) average salary for RNs in Tallahassee is $67,360 for a year or $32.39 per hour. Admittedly that is slightly lower than the average for the entire state which is $72,000 or $34.62 nevertheless, those figures shouldn't be viewed as limits to earning potential.
