HCA | Professional Responsibilities Agreement

A professional responsibilities agreement sets out the conduct expected of a clinician working HCA facilities. It concerns how you practice rather than the terms you work under, and it is signed rather than completed. It sits with your other nursing credentials.

How is this different from a contractor agreement?

Different subject entirely. An independent contractor agreement covers the working relationship, establishing that you are not an employee, that shifts are yours to accept or decline, and that you handle your own taxes. A professional responsibilities agreement covers conduct on the floor: scope, confidentiality, reporting, reliability, and the standards you are held to while caring for patients. A facility can require both, and signing one says nothing about the other.

What does it usually cover?

Obligations that travel with your license rather than with the shift.

  • Practicing within your scope and your competence
  • Patient privacy and information handling
  • Reporting safety concerns, errors, and suspected mistreatment
  • Professional boundaries with patients and their families
  • Reliability, including how cancellations and no-shows are treated
  • Reporting impairment, your own or a colleague's

What if you are asked to do something outside your scope?

Decline and escalate. Signing an agreement does not expand what your license or certification permits, and no assignment overrides your board's scope of practice. A facility short-staffed on a difficult night may ask anyway, sometimes without realizing the request is a problem. What the agreement records is an obligation to say so rather than to comply, and a clinician who performs the task regardless carries the consequence personally.

Adding it to your profile

Sign the agreement, then upload the signed copy.

  1. Tap Menu in the top left of the Nursa app.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Scroll to the Credentials section.
  4. Tap Add your Credential.
  5. Upload your signed agreement as a PDF, WORD, JPG, or PNG.

Sign up as a clinician and read this one properly rather than scrolling to the signature line, since it sets out what you are agreeing to be held to.

Testimonial about Nursa

A better control of my time!”

“I love that I can choose my schedule and not stress so much about work. I also love that I can be responsible for my own work. I now feel like I get treated the way I deserve and still make a huge difference in my patients’ lives.”

Testimonial about Nursa from the real users

Nursa is always there for me!”

“I love the easy user-friendly app with clear pictures and information about a facility. I work with other agencies and the Nursa app is most visually appealing! The best thing about Nursa though is the professional attitude of the staff whenever you call or need help. Again, surpasses other agencies”
