The University of Mobile provides a Christ-centered environment where nursing is treated as a high calling. Uniquely for a four-year university, it offers an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)—a five-semester "fast-track" that allows students to enter the workforce as RNs quickly. The traditional BSN is a 123-credit hour program that admits students into the professional clinical sequence after they complete their core prerequisites with a minimum 2.75 GPA. For those who already hold a non-nursing degree, the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) delivers the curriculum in just four consecutive semesters. At the graduate level, the university offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education and a highly competitive Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), including a specialized track in Nurse Anesthesia (DNAP).
The program’s heart is the Center for Excellence in Healthcare Practice (CEHP). This facility features seven high-fidelity simulators, including Pediatric Hal, two Lucina birthing simulators, and Apollo, a high-acuity adult male simulator. Students use these manikins to practice complex scenarios—from neonatal resuscitation to athletic training emergencies—in a "psychologically safe" environment. The center also includes a dedicated Anesthesia Skills Lab for graduate students, equipped with advanced workstations and ultrasound technology. Clinical rotations are held at major Mobile-area providers, such as Mobile Infirmary, Springhill Medical Center, and USA Health, ensuring students gain experience in both private and academic trauma settings.
The university's outcomes are among the best in the nation. For the 2024–2025 cycle, the School of Nursing achieved a 100% NCLEX-RN pass rate and a 100% job placement rate for its graduates. Compared to other programs in Alabama, the University of Mobile stands out for its small, personalized cohorts where faculty members mentor students individually. Admission for the clinical sequence typically requires an ACT composite of 21 (or a 19 for the ADN track) and a benchmark score on the TEAS pre-entrance exam. In 2025, the school received the maximum 10-year CCNE accreditation, securing its status as a premier healthcare educator through 2035.
