LCMC Health Center

LCMC Health is a nonprofit health system headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. It began as the parent organization of Children's Hospital New Orleans and expanded over the past decade into a multi-hospital system covering Orleans and Jefferson parishes and the north shore. The network now includes a freestanding pediatric hospital, an academic medical center serving as a safety-net and teaching facility, and several community hospitals, which means care settings and acuity differ substantially from one campus to another.

Services across the system span pediatric subspecialty care, emergency and trauma services, cardiology, cancer treatment, neurosciences, orthopedics, women's health, and behavioral health, alongside routine medical and surgical inpatient care. Nurses practice in pediatric and neonatal intensive care, adult critical care, medical-surgical, telemetry, perioperative, emergency, oncology, and labor and delivery units, with roles varying considerably by facility. The system maintains academic affiliations with Louisiana medical and nursing schools, supporting graduate medical education and clinical placements for students. For nurses, system employment allows movement between pediatric, academic, and community settings without changing employers, which is uncommon in a market this size.
