AdventHealth University provides a mission-driven nursing education that prioritizes both clinical excellence and compassionate service. The Department of Nursing offers several pathways, including a 20-month Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), a 3-year accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with daytime and evening options, and a 100% online RN-to-BSN. For advanced practice, AHU provides an MSN with tracks in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Education, and Leadership, as well as an online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The BSN curriculum is structured across nine trimesters, focusing on core competencies such as physical assessment, holistic maternity care, and population health, all while integrating Christian values into daily practice.
The program’s most significant advantage is its direct link to AdventHealth Orlando, one of the largest and highest-ranked hospitals in Florida. Students have access to Dedicated Education Units (DEUs), where they are paired one-on-one with experienced staff nurses for immersive clinical training. On-campus, the Nursing Learning Center features 19 patient care units and high-fidelity simulators—including adult, pediatric, and birthing manikins—that mimic human physiology, gasp for air, and respond to pharmacological interventions. These resources contribute to strong student outcomes; the 2024 NCLEX-RN pass rate was 86%, and the university maintains a 100% job placement rate for its nursing graduates, many of whom are hired directly into the AdventHealth system. Compared to other Florida programs, AHU stands out for its trimester-based year-round schedule and its unique "whole-person care" philosophy, which trains nurses to address a patient's spiritual and emotional needs alongside their physical symptoms.
