About Mount Saint Mary College

Mount Saint Mary College provides a seamless and high-intensity pathway into the nursing profession. The traditional BSN is a direct-entry program, allowing students to start nursing-related coursework in their freshman year and begin clinical rotations by the second semester of their sophomore year. For those already in the workforce, the Mount offers an online RN-to-BSN that can be finished in as little as 12 months, and a "Non-Traditional" Accelerated Transfer BSN designed for students with prior college credits, featuring evening classes and a 19-month completion timeline. Graduate students can pursue an MSN with tracks in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP), Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP), or Nursing Education.

The program is centered in Aquinas Hall and the Kaplan Family Math, Science and Technology Center, which houses state-of-the-art simulation labs. These facilities include high-fidelity manikins—including a birthing simulator—that allow students to practice life-saving interventions in a risk-free environment. Clinical immersion is a hallmark of the Mount experience, with students rotating through 50+ clinical sites, including major regional systems like Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, and Westchester Medical Center. The curriculum is uniquely guided by the philosophy of Sister Simone Roach, focusing on the five C's: Commitment, Conscience, Competence, Compassion, and Confidence. This holistic approach has led to exceptional outcomes, with 96% of graduates employed or in graduate school within six months of completion.

Compared to other Hudson Valley programs, MSMC stands out for its small class sizes and the Desmond Center for Community Engagement & Wellness, which provides students with unique opportunities for community-based health service. The program’s rigorous standards are reflected in its consistently high licensure scores, which regularly surpass both New York State and national averages.
