UCHealth operates its Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency Program from the Leprino Building on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, home to University of Colorado Hospital. The 12-month program is built for newly licensed registered nurses starting their first role in acute care, and places each resident on a specific unit based on their hire, rather than assigning students to a fixed specialty track ahead of time.

Residents complete a paid, precepted orientation on their assigned unit, with the length of that orientation set by the unit's needs. Alongside daily clinical work, residents attend four-hour residency seminars roughly every six weeks, where facilitators guide them through decision-making, leadership, and critical-thinking exercises and support the development of evidence-based practice projects tied to unit-level outcomes.

Because orientation and specialty exposure are tied to the nurse's actual unit of hire, the program offers hands-on, role-specific preparation rather than a generalized rotation. It's a fit for new nurses who already know which specialty they want to enter and are looking for structured mentorship as they build competence in that setting.
