Find the Best RN Jobs in Reno, Nevada

Reno, Nevada, is a majestic city located northwest of the Sierra Nevada. Reno is a city well known for its casinos and gambling, but it also has multiple entertainment options for both residents and visitors. There is, for example, Mount Rose Ski Tahoe, 30 minutes from the city, with wooden cabins and winter sports, and this, combined with the beautiful view of the mountains, makes it perfect for visiting.

Reno has beautiful places to walk around and see, like places to go biking, the automobile museum with over 200 vehicles and activities to dress up and take pictures of different eras next to the cars; or unforgettable experiences like the planetarium and science museum at the University of Reno, or the animal ark, with wild animals in their natural habitat. Undoubtedly, Reno is a city for all ages and all tastes.

Nevada is among the highest paying states for registered nurses (RNs), with an average annual salary of $88,800, higher than the national average. It is a tremendous advantage for RNs to live and work in Reno, Nevada. The cost of living in Reno is similar to the rest of the country.

Registered nurses typically perform the following functions in a healthcare facility (a hospital, nursing home, patient's home, private practice, or any other setting in which they provide care). They must:

  • Administer medications and treatments to patients.
  • Evaluate the patient's condition according to the clinical history and the observations made by the rest of the team in charge of the patient.
  • Establish, together with a multidisciplinary team, plans for treating patients.
  • Perform tests that support the diagnosis of patients.
  • Educate patients about their illnesses and how to manage them and their family members.

The work of the RNs is usually totally dedicated to supporting the patient's day-to-day life, and it is a broad, extensive work that requires a lot of patience and dedication. Some RNs decide to pursue a specialty out of passion or to improve their salaries. Undoubtedly, nurses must have a vocation to help patients so they can fully dedicate themselves to this noble profession.

To become an RN in Reno, Nevada, future nurses must complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, including a supervised clinical experience program for nurses. The licensure process for Reno includes having a social security number and some other requirements of the state of Nevada. Once completed, to become licensed, they must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).

Registered Nursing Jobs in Nevada

Nursing jobs, in general, are constantly growing throughout the country due to several factors:

  • The worldwide pandemic
  • The constant shortage of nurses
  • The growth of metabolic diseases or the development of the aging population

Furthermore, Reno, Nevada, is no exception to this growth, and it is certainly easy to find high-paying jobs for RNs in Reno.

Moreover, it is essential to note that there are per diem registered nursing jobs in Reno, which are temporary jobs that healthcare facilities make available for RNs to take shifts. Often these per diem jobs - also called PRN (pro re nata) - are offered as shifts to meet the needs of healthcare facilities that urgently need to fill shifts.

The great advantage of PRN RN jobs in Reno is that RNs can choose their schedules at their convenience because, through the Nursa app, they are connected with hospitals that offer shifts that RNs take when they can. In this way, they are supporting that facility to meet their shift needs, and in addition, they can earn more per hour of work than they usually would. This is because PRN RN jobs do not have social benefits, and because they are not long contract jobs, the pay they offer is generally higher than usual.
