The Need for RNs in Gastonia and North Carolina

There is a nationwide nursing shortage, and North Carolina is no exception. With an aging population, healthcare facilities in Gastonia and throughout North Carolina are struggling to keep up with the demand for quality care. As a result, more and more facilities are turning to PRN RNs to fill these vital shifts and provide excellent patient care.

Typical RN Duties in Gastonia's Top Healthcare Facilities

RNs can be found working in some of Gastonia's top healthcare facilities, including CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Highland Health Center, Brookdale Union, Brookdale Robinwood, and NextCare Urgent Care. As a Gastonia RN, you may work alongside licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to provide compassionate and efficient care to patients.

In these facilities, RNs have various roles and responsibilities, including administering medications, monitoring patient vital signs, creating care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best patient outcomes. RNs are also often responsible for delegating tasks to LPNs and CNAs, providing support and guidance as needed.

RNs Working in Hospitals

Registered nurses are an essential part of healthcare delivery in a hospital setting. Each hospital unit has its unique challenges and rewards. As a PRN RN, you have the opportunity to work in units such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Room (ER), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical. These units offer diverse experiences, requiring RNs to have the appropriate skills and experience.

ICUs cater to critically ill patients, where RNs may be required to monitor vital signs, administer medication, and assist with procedures such as intubation and mechanical ventilation. RNs will encounter a wide range of patient conditions in the ER, requiring quick thinking and decisiveness. Telemetry and Med-Surg units provide a more stable patient population, where RNs focus on patient monitoring, patient and caregiver education, medication administration, and wound care.
