Children's Health operates its Nurse Residency Program from its Medical District campus in Dallas, Texas. The hospital-based program follows the Vizient/AACN model, a widely used framework for entry-to-practice nurse residencies, and is built for newly licensed registered nurses beginning careers in pediatric care.
Over the course of a year, residents move through a series of structured learning and work experiences designed to support the transition from nursing student to practicing pediatric nurse. The curriculum targets measurable outcomes, including improved clinical competence, stronger prioritization and communication skills, and reduced stress during the demanding first year on the job.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, meeting national best-practice standards for entry-to-practice residencies. As one of several major pediatric hospital systems in North Texas offering structured residencies, Children's Health gives new nurses a defined, evidence-based path into pediatric specialty care.
