RN Jobs in Salt Lake City Offer Incredible Pay Rates

It’s a great time to be a registered nurse (RN) in Salt Lake City (SLC). You’ve probably already heard that the need for RNs is projected to increase by 9% nationwide by 2030, but did you know that RN jobs in Salt Lake City are projected to grow by 47% by the same year? Furthermore, did you know that the location quotient for RNs in Utah is currently the lowest in the country? This means that Utah has the smallest ratio of registered nurses compared with the national ratio. In other words, you are practically guaranteed to find RN jobs in SLC.

With RNs in such high demand, why settle for an average salary, fixed schedules, and less flexibility? If you will be able to find plenty of work, why not work per diem shifts?

What Is Per Diem?

The term “per diem” comes from Latin and means “per day.” It is used in the same way as the term PRN, which stands for “pro re nata” in Latin and means “as needed.” Both of these terms are used in healthcare to refer to jobs that professionals fill by the shift.

For an RN, per diem work could be a single isolated shift, or it could be a long-term career choice to pick up PRN jobs.

If you choose to do PRN work as an RN, you will mostly likely be able to pick up as many shifts as you like within your area. In other words, in a city such as Salt Lake, where RNs are in such high demand, you get to call the shots. Moreover, since healthcare facilities that post PRN shifts are pretty desperate to cover staffing needs, you can expect higher hourly rates than you would get receive on average. Per diem registered nurse jobs are truly the future of nursing!

One great advantage when residing in Utah is the existence of the multistate nursing license (NLC). This license allows you to work with one type of license across 39 different states to be able to travel and work doing registered nurse jobs, such as per diem RN jobs or travel nursing jobs, and earn good money at the same time. If traveling around while working is something you would like to do, you can refer to the Utah Board of Nursing to get an ENLC.

How Can I Become an RN in Utah?

Utah has similar requirements to other states to become a registered nurse. To become a registered nurse in Utah, you must take the following steps:

Of course, when RNs obtain more advanced training, such as a telemetry reading and accreditation in specific specialties, in addition to gaining as much experience as possible - it helps them to get better-paying nursing jobs in Utah.

Dear RN: You’ve Earned a Break

As an RN, you might not be ready to retire yet, but you still deserve a break. Does your job have you working the night shift? Are you working over the weekends and holidays? Are you missing all your kids’ plays and soccer games?

With PRN jobs, you can change your life around. You can work hard for stretches at a time and then take time off whenever you want to: You can be there for your family when they need you the most; you can make it to your cousin’s wedding; you can go on that road trip to Vegas with your friends. Instead of being iron chains tying you down to a specific place and schedule as permanent jobs are, per diem jobs will give you the freedom to travel, have new experiences, and in general, work to live—not live to work. What are you waiting for?

What Is the Average RN Salary in Salt Lake City?

Salt Lake City, Utah, has an average salary for RNs of $79,370 annually, or $38,16 per hour, and this salary is high enough to have substantial savings and a comfortable and peaceful life in SLC, even though the cost of living is high in this city. PRN nursing jobs in Utah allow you, as a registered nurse, to find excellent financial opportunities and great salaries so you can earn more money in less time.

Of course, job opportunities in Salt Lake City are plentiful, and salaries are over the top when registered nurses have specialties—some nursing specialties have even higher pay and demand than others—have previous experience, work PRN shifts, etc.

What's the Job Market Outlook for RNs in Salt Lake City?

Overall, the job market is growing tremendously for RNs in Salt Lake City. Now and in the future, it is necessary to have nurses who have enough experience and who can meet the staffing needs that hospitals, assisted-living facilities (ALFs), skilled-nursing centers, long-term care (LTC) facilities, and other types of healthcare providers urgently have.

Not only does being able to meet this demand through PRN shifts mean a higher overall income for you as an RN, but it also means relieving the burden on plenty of overworked RNs at healthcare facilities in Salt Lake, supporting numerous patients who need and deserve quality care at these same facilities, and improving the overall health of the population.

The job market outlook is similar for all nursing professionals in SLC, including RNs, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), who are in high demand by all the facilities around the city.
